Accessibility statement
Free education is only free if everyone can use it. We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA across the site.
What we have done
- Plain-language writing at around an eighth-grade reading level, with short sections, descriptive headings and a table of contents on long guides.
- Text and background colours chosen for contrast of at least 4.5:1, and no information conveyed by colour alone (evidence labels are also written out in words).
- A skip-to-content link, logical heading order, keyboard-operable menus, tabs and expanding sections, and visible focus outlines.
- Descriptive alternative text on every meaningful image; decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
- Text that can be resized to 200% without loss of content, and layouts that work on phones, tablets and desktops without sideways scrolling.
- Respect for the "reduce motion" setting; no auto-playing media, no flashing content.
- Forms with visible labels, clear error messages and no time limits.
Known limitations
- Some data tables scroll sideways on narrow screens; the same information is also given in the surrounding text.
- Links to external sources open in a new tab so you do not lose your place; we are reviewing whether to change this.
Tell us about a barrier
If any part of this site is hard to use, or you need content in another format such as large print or plain text, email admin@thepathwaytoprogress.com. We aim to respond within five working days and to fix genuine barriers quickly.
